Sea kayak

Splint Kayaks are developed in collaboration with Swedish designer Björn Thomasson - one of the world's best kayak designers. We have developed kayaks with completely unique sailing properties that provide good stability and a really fast glide through the water. Our kayaks are very easy to manoeuvre.

The seat on the kayak is completely unique as it is moulded to the sides and bottom of the kayak and attached to the cockpit edge. This means that the seat closes completely inside the kayak, so no water can get down behind the seat, and the water pours out easily when you need to empty the kayak. It also provides good safety as it makes it easy to empty the kayak of water during rescue drills.

All Splint kayaks are made in Elite lay-up which is a brand-new construction developed with leading European raw material suppliers. The key element of this lay-up is the high-density core material, which provides a very hard but light-weight laminate. This lay-up of Kevlar, or Carbon reinforcement, which increases the durability and rigidity of the kayak, absorbs even less energy and can withstand the most challenging environment.

We believe that Splint kayaks are one of the world's best kayaks - measured by their development and design – due to the fibre material that has been chosen, and the high quality of all the joints. Our kayaks are vacuum moulded and 100% handmade, as all the very best kayaks are.

Splint Sea Play

Sea Play is an all-round kayak that is great for longer trips, as the slightly V-shaped bottom gives it a really good directional stability. Sea Play is easy to manoeuvre, because the kayak has a hard-ridged frame that gives it a noticeably sharp edge on the side of the hull. With this hard ridge, it is easy to edge the kayak. In addition, the kayak is low behind the cockpit and has long padded thigh supports to ensure good contact with the kayak. This makes it great for playing and rolling. The kayak has a spacious cockpit at the front by your legs, which allows you to move and adjust your foot position for longer trips. It also allows you to sit with slightly bent knees, so your back is completely straight, which gives you the optimal sitting position for kayaking trips.

We have not only spent time designing the underneath shape and the cockpit, of course, we have also worked hard to design the

top of the kayak so that it not only looks good, but is also the perfect design to prevent the kayak being affected by wind from all directions.

Greenlander:

The Greenlander is a ‘play kayak’ that is also great for longer trips, since the slightly V-shaped bottom gives it really good directional stability. The Greenlander kayak is easy to manoeuvre, because the kayak has a har- ridged frame that gives it a noticeably sharp edge on the side of the hull. With this hard ridge, it is easy to edge the kayak. In addition, the kayak is very low behind the cockpit and has long padded thigh supports to ensure good contact with the kayak. This makes it great for playing and rolling.

The Splint Greenlander has a slightly more spacious cockpit than other Greenland kayaks, which allows you to move and adjust your foot position for longer trips - but you still have the same level of contact with the kayak because of the long padded thigh supports.

This model is the ultimate ‘play kayak’, without compromising on speed and directional stability.

The difference between the Sea Play and the Greenlander kayak is that the Greenlander is slightly more pointed underneath, and a little lower in the construction with a seat that is located 1.5 cm further forward than the one in the Sea Play. This makes the Sea Play a little more directionally stable and the Greenlander a little easier to manoeuvre.

Carbon kayaks are extremely light sea kayaks; all of ours are made from full carbon in the best fibre material that can currently be obtained.

The design is also emphasised and heightened by the carbon fibre, and the kayak is much more solid in its construction, it therefore reacts faster and achieves the optimal glide through the water.

We only use pure carbon fibre, not the cheaper Kevlar type, as this can absorb water in the event of any damage to the kayak, meaning that even a small amount of damage can quickly turn into a major repair when you are dealing with Kevlar.

The underneath is made from full carbon with a transparent gelcoat, so you can see the carbon structure. The top is also made from full carbon/carbon fibre, but with an added colour in the gelcoat; this is the most aesthetic solution, as the fibre structure does not run in straight lines on the top as it does underneath.
